Ann Forrest Watkins Saluda, SC
In a quest to further cement an already strong circle of friendships, a group of six Saluda, S.C. ladies formed The Victorian Tea Society. They meet every other month, on a rotating basis, at one of the member's homes. Their fellowship has been strengthened over the past year by the deaths of one member's spouse and of another member's daughter and granddaughter. A third member's husband was a heart transplant recipient.
The
hostess of each tea presents a small gift to her guests and at Christmas,
the Society made gifts of food baskets to local needy families.
Original ideas are encouraged for each Tea. An Autumn Tea was given in an authentic log cabin - A Spring Tea was held at a lakeside setting - a mild summer day found the Society enjoying a Garden Tea. Programs and presentations for the Teas have included poetry, a display and history of tea items, recipes and brewing methods.
